Project Overview

Unexpected DNS changes are a classic sign of hijacking or misconfiguration. This tool queries a list of DNS servers for a record, detects when answers change, and alerts you.

Implementation Process

  • Queries any record type (A, CNAME, MX, ...) across default, filtered (by country or owner), random or custom DNS server lists.
  • Change detection by hashing results and comparing with the previous run.
  • Optional storage of results in PostgreSQL or MariaDB.
  • Discord and email notifications; output as JSON, YAML or tables.
  • An --expected value to flag servers returning the wrong answer.

Results

Run from cron or as a service, it gives continuous monitoring of DNS records with alerts on change.

Benefits

  • Early warning of DNS hijacking or accidental changes.
  • Visibility into propagation after planned changes.
