Config File Monitor with Discord Diffs
A lightweight Bash file-integrity monitor that sends a readable diff to Discord whenever a watched file changes.
Project Overview
A small file-integrity monitor for servers: it watches directories such as /etc/nginx and /var/www/html and posts what changed to Discord.
Implementation Process
- Keeps a snapshot of each watched file and compares it every 10 seconds (configurable).
- Generates a diff and sends it to one or more Discord webhooks.
- Webhook URLs and watched paths are stored in config files, and new paths can be added with
--add-path.
Results
Every change to a watched config file arrives in Discord with the exact lines that changed.
Benefits
- Spots unauthorized or accidental config changes quickly.
- No agent or database needed: Bash and curl only.
